The Evolution of American Appliance

1955“I had just gotten out of the Army in 1955 and we needed a new washer and dryer. After a few months the appliance needed repair and an appliance service friend of mine said, you can fix this, and showed me how. After that I knew that appliances were my calling,” said Dick Jorgensen, founder.
1974“I ran it out of my garage for 3 months and bought inventory from appliance companies going out of business. AA really took off when other service companies went out of business and I picked up their inventory and moved the business out of the house into Brentwood Shopping Center,” said Dick Jorgensen, founder.
1976Partnership with Sub-Zero began. Both for parts and service.
1986“Between attending tech school, a job at Safeway and helping dad grow the business, I worked night and day. My dad used to say; if you want to be manager one day you have to master every job in the company first.” said Scott Jorgensen, Dick’s son.
1996American Appliance became the exclusive parts distributor and service company for ASKO.
2000American Appliance after 26 years outgrew its building and built a new building on property right next door to the original facility.
2001Sub-Zero acquires Wolf Gourmet, which greatly increased the American Appliance business.
2007“I was really happy at Roth Distributing at the time, I had been there nearly 13 years, and would have gladly retired from there. When Scott asked me to consider this it took me almost 2 years to finally say yes and to make the change. I had insecurities at first but knew where Sub-Zero and Wolf were going and the future looks bright!” Scott Baca.
2008“The appliance service business to me has always been about relationships built on trust rather than the number of service calls completed. Being there for our customers throughout the life of their appliances means knowing what a customer needs and making the process as convenient as possible for them,” said Scott Baca, president and owner.
2009Continuing to go above and beyond for customers, a maintenance program is introduced and includes reminder programs. This would be a key in building stronger relationships with customers.
2010American Appliance Parts Business expands into Texas and 19 surrounding States – Great Plains Appliance Parts was born.
2011The Dallas Great Plains Appliance Parts office was opened. This facility is 16,667 square feet and was nearly 3 times larger than the original Denver facility.
2012The purchase of a new building, located in Golden, CO, would become the new home and headquarters for American Appliance/ Great Plains Appliance Parts. This building is 16,820 square feet.
2013 A strong focus on marketing the American Appliance brand including truck wraps, building signage and uniforms takes form.
2014 September 1 marks the 40th anniversary of American Appliance.
2016 American Appliance wins the ASTI's Most Professional Service Company award.
